Yesterday we Indonesians celebrate our day of freedom, now we netters can enjoy a new face of freedom, the INTERNET.
But the internet itself is not in any way gives you any freedom. On the internet, you lost your freedom! Why? It’s because anyone can attack you on the internet, they can track you down by doing traffic analysis. They can locate you, they can see you, they can hear you, they can feel you, they can… simply… know the very you!
They probably will sue you if they want to.
To regain your little freedom, you need to be clever on the internet, clever on behaviors, clever on netiquettes and most importantly clever on some internet related tools. To regain a near absolute freedom, you need to master any protocols used by the internet. I bet most of you won’t waste your time to do the last, me neither.
I actually do not really care on any of those things they could do to harm us to be honest, because I knew what I was doing. In fact, I don’t really care with most of things I have done (on the internet)… ha ha ha.
Today while I was browsing projects on SourceForge I found mixmaster.
Its documentation says that if we want to:
- Promote of free speech,
- Work against oppressive government,
- Promote cryptography and anonymity on the Internet,
we might consider running mixmaster.
Summarizing, mixmaster is an anonymous remailer. Remailers provide protection against traffic analysis and allow sending electronic mail anonymously or pseudo- nymously. Remailers permit you to send mail using your real name (if you wish), while protecting your email records from the snooping eyes of your Internet Service Provider.
Well, may be it can help you to regain your freedom a little.
