Well, all entries on this blog so far, excluding the first, are all about Formula One racing. Yes, I am an F1 racing fan and a supporter for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro team, but I am neither a journalist nor a reporter on this sport, no I am not!
So I have decided to start writing entries on other things unrelated to Formula One. Hence, let us start by introducing me myself and my id
OK… here we go!
My name is Tri, characteristically followed by an S, as I usually wrote it: Tri S.
In bibliography though, one might write it as S, Tri.
One can see my friendster profile at: http://www.friendster.com/stricmp
Accordingly, this blog is available at: http://stricmp.blogs.friendster.com
Yes, it is all about stricmp, my primary virtual id on the net, so far.
ON STRICMP
Once upon time, I started my own company, cofounded with my friends in our college year, so you can call us an entrepreneur by definition. Actually, it is an adventure!
We develops computer softwares, produces digital contents and provides consultancy services. I manage some of our activities and projects and do some marketing, but technical is my strongest point instead of managerial.
I self-employed in the company doing software analysis, design, programming and research. I also create 2D artworks and 3D models, both hand-made and/or scripted. So that’s I am, developing softwares with multimedia contents and programming it to run on computers.
Thus, I’ll likely introduce myself as…
S, Tri, Computer Multimedia Programmer,
… or stricmp for short.
Now you know where does my id stricmp came from
MORE ON STRICMP
If you’re a programmer, I bet you already knew that stricmp is a C library function for comparing array of bytes called string. It compares characters, returning negative for less, positive for more, and zero on equal, but in doing so, the differences in case are ignored.
This function exhibits the spirit I adhere to, to a degree of philosophy, in searching for differences. It compares differences and tells a difference, but it ignores unprincipal differences as well.
AGE OF STRICMP
Tracing back the history, stricmp was a modified adoption of POSIX standard for C system programming. And with the C language itself proposed to become a standard in 1988, it is aged 18 years when I write this (2006).
As you can see here, this age is reflected in my Friendster profile, and so, that is not my real age tough, hahaha
VARIANT OF STRICMP
On Linux, BSD, and System V, or any other POSIX systems, you will find the same stricmp as strcasecmp as defined by POSIX standard.
Type “man strcasecmp” on your Linux box for more information on this function.

Well, that’s for now.
Peace!
